WILD SELF

INTRODUCTIONS AND A MICRO-DEEPENING PRACTICE

NOW BEGINS THE JOURNEY TO TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF

In a noisy and global world, it is very easy to lose track of the time it takes to be good to ourselves. In the world of These Wild Humans, we teach you how to return to these basics, make what is old new, and adopt them for time-efficient and deeply nourishing practices to support yourself, and your loved ones.

The Wild Self is the first step on our tailored leadership journeys, and in our Becoming a Wild Human-Self-Guided Work for Women

With the Wild Humans work, we ask you to take a look at your individual needs, how you view yourself and the world’s impact on you, and to begin to set boundaries and take better care of yourself to have the capacity for better relationships and to better lead at work.

Here is a little taste of what that looks like, and a free micro-deepening process including self-led inquiry, journaling, behavioral clarity, and some of our proprietary recipes.

CORE QUESTIONS TO NURTURE YOUR WILD SELF:

  1. How are you reclaiming worthiness/value of yourself?
  2. How can you understand who you are?
  3. How do you know what you need?

PRACTICES:

  • Use our Wild Humans Enneagram Self-Typing Guide to understand how you are motivated and what behavior this creates in you.
  • Practice the Wild Humans Renewal Journaling technique

OUR RECIPES FOR WILD SELF

If you’d like to create something at home that supports the Wild Self, here are some special recipes to use or share. This recipe is good for a full bath or for a centering, calming foot soak.

WILD HUMANS JOY-CREATING SEA SALT SOAK:

You’ll need:

  • 8 oz inexpensive but real sea salt (not iodized)
  • 8 oz baking soda/soda bicarbonate
  • 2 oz pink Himalayan salt or Celtic sea salt
  • 4-6 drops of grapefruit essential oil
  • 4-6 drops of bergamot essential oil

Mix all together and toss it well with your hands. Break up any places where the essential oil has pocketed. Doing this with your hands is very satisfying and it also imparts aromatherapy on your skin. If your skin is very sensitive, cut the essential oils in half or leave them out.

  • Pour ½ – all of your mix into a deep bath, use about ¼ of the mix for a foot soak.
  • Run very warm water and sit in the bath for a solid 20 mins, longer if you’d like.
  • Do not take the bath just before bed – give yourself 1-2 hours to move around, take a light walk, etc.
  • Drink plenty of water (32 oz is a good level) and/or herbal tea following the soak.

This soak can be used every few days and is designed to draw the lactic acid out of your muscles and help you rest and relax. Good after heavy activity and good for mood and stress management.

WARMING WILD “FIRE” MORNING TONIC SHOTS:

You will need:

  • A very strong blender
  • A very fine straining sieve
  • A big metal or glass bowl or 2 (don’t use ceramic – this stains)
  • 2-3 large grapefruits, 2-3 lemons, 2 oranges (or you can sub all one citrus – I like the medicinal diversity)
  • 4-5 large (palm sized) pieces of raw ginger
  • 4-6 pieces of fresh turmeric or about 4-5 heaping soup spoons powered turmeric (about 42 g or just use a soup spoon)
  • About half as much powered cinnamon as turmeric
  • Add some cayenne pepper (about half as much as cinnamon) if you like spicy things
  • About 4-6 oz raw honey – manuka honey is more medicinal
  • About 2-3 cups (or 24 oz) of filtered water

Steps:

  • Scrub your ginger but don’t peel – you can rinse with white vinegar/water if needed
  • Cut the pith and the peel off of your citrus and rough chop into big blendable pieces
  • Put your ginger and water in the blender and run on high until it becomes a soft pulp
  • Run that mess through the sieve and get pure ginger juice – set aside
  • Separately run your citrus + spices + honey through the blender
  • Pour that through the sieve to remove heavy citrus debris
  • Makes about 2 x 32 oz jars so you can cut the recipe in half to store
  • Drink a shot glass full or about 2x oz every morning to boost metabolism, reduce cortisol, enhance energy and mood
  • Have a shot during the day with a few cashews or almonds as a powerful metabolism-boosting / high-nutrition mini snack

Use this recipe to keep you and your family well during cold and flu seasons or when someone around you isn’t feeling well. It is also wonderful as preparation for travel, or for general maintenance to reduce inflammation and increase immunity.

WILD HUMANS CUSTOM CURATED LIST FOR SELF

When I am sharing recommendations for my favorite goods, products, teas, books, etc. the easiest common ground globally is on Amazon.com. This is also an easy place for me to make curated lists re: the three areas of Becoming a Wild Human.

I update these lists all of the time based on new goods I find and test with my family or share with my loved ones.

Many of the businesses I am highlighting are small or medium-sized businesses that happen to sell their goods on Amazon.

Some of these things may not be accessible in some countries, and you may want to check your country’s domain-specific Amazon URL as well.

Here is my list of favorite things for the Wild Self.

SHOP SMALL

I am always working to add to and update my “shop small” recommendations.

This is a customized list from my natural, fermented skin and body care line, SLOANE MARLEY. These selections match up with the need to care for yourself and help you heal and soothe your skin.
