Pre-Work Practice
The PRE-WORK PRACTICES for BECOMING A WILD HUMAN are essential and will be referenced throughout the journey.
This part of the work won’t necessarily be difficult but it may take some time. Or it may be difficult if you have taken a long time to come to this work, but it will be worth it. Be sure to make room for this before you really launch into the self-guided journey of this course.
If you are choosing an immersive experience, you may want to do this work a few days to a week in advance of the beginning of that immersion.
If you are choosing more of a weekly practice, we recommend doing the PRE-WORK PRACTICE as your first week, moving in sequence through the rest of the modules.
By spending time reflecting on where you are beginning, you will be better prepared to do the work in each module, and you will have a greater ability to escalate applied practices and outcomes following the end of the course and INTEGRATION.
Ask yourself this simple but essential question: “Where am I beginning?”

Use this checklist to begin the section:
- Sit down to do this work with the intent to be very, very honest with yourself.
- Focus on a sense of curiosity as you begin, and try to refrain from judgment for yourself.
- Consider the whole – look at how each section of the pre-work relates to the previous and the next, and think about it holistically.
- Please take notes on paper. Writing notes by hand turns on a part of the brain more deeply connected to learning and memory. This is where you will start to use the small spiral notebook you have dedicated to the course.
- This is a good time to anchor and commit to your timeline and to schedule time to complete the work. Remember, you can complete it over a few days in an intensive fashion, or over six months or more, but I do recommend choosing specific days of the week and blocks of time to work on it. You will benefit deeply from being consistent and choosing “completion energy” from the outset.
- Begin your ritual around your time with this work, involving your other senses. What have you chosen to stimulate the senses?
- Work near a window or source of natural light if you can, or even outdoors if the weather is nice.
- Absorb the information at the pace you are prepared for. There is a lot of introspection and reflection in this work.
- Intend the best outcome and plan for success. We hope you feel lighter, happier, and more prepared to face challenges as you progress in this work.
How to Practice
The Pre-Work Practice is your opportunity to reflect on your start-state. As you complete the course and look back on this Pre-Work you will be able to reflect clearly on your progress. This will be a pivotal piece of your work in Integration + Closing and will give you context to apply this work to your individual life in every section of the work.

CONNECT WITH
The Wild Self
Having self-awareness is essential for understanding others because it allows us to understand our own thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, so that we can recognize and accept those same qualities in others. Self-awareness helps us to be better communicators, allowing us to accurately interpret and respond to the needs of others. It also helps us to develop empathy, which is the ability to understand and share the feelings of another person. Having self-awareness is the first step in developing meaningful relationships with others, as it helps us to better understand their perspectives and emotions.
Knowing yourself helps you to prioritize physical and psychological safety, to choose adequate rest, to normalize the support of yourself as a building block for the rest of your life, and to use these things to move a better version of yourself forward in relationships, home and work.
The audio below is a meditation that you can use to open your practice with the workbook, to close it, or to bridge your work between sessions if you are taking a longer timeline with the work.

Wild Relationship
Working on yourself is essential before engaging deeply in any relationship, because it sets the foundation for a healthy partnership or collaboration based in clarity, shared values, and understanding. When you take the time to get to know yourself, understand your own needs and values, and grow in self-awareness, you can then use this knowledge to be a better partner yourself and to use the W.I.L.D. elements we talked about to support yourself and offer curiosity and grace to your partner, friend or even co-worker.
Additionally, it’s important to focus on developing a sense of self-love and confidence before entering a relationship, as this can help ensure that you don’t look to someone else first for your self-worth. By taking the time to work on yourself, you can invest in the relationship from a place of self-assurance, creating a strong foundation for a positive and fulfilling connection. You will also have much more clarity about what you want from your life and what you are doing to get there, which will help you relate to and connect with more people who are of the same general mindset and share your values.

How to Practice
The Wild Relationship Practice is your opportunity to reflect on who you are in a relationship as reflected by you, not the people around you. It’s about taking all that you learned in Wild Self and determining how to hold your boundaries and set up excellent communication with all of the types of people you are in relationship with while clearly communicating your values and remembering to focus on self-love as the building block for each relationship. CREATE YOUR
Wild Home
A Wild Home is a home that fosters a deep connection with nature and encourages a sense of freedom, creativity, and exploration. It’s a space that reflects your inner wildness in a sacred way and allows you to be your authentic self.
Having a whole Wild Home is important for several reasons. Our homes are our sanctuaries where we can relax, recharge, and feel safe. A Wild Home can help us reduce stress and anxiety by providing a peaceful and calming atmosphere. It can also help us feel more grounded and connected to our physical surroundings.
When we create a comfortable and inviting environment, it encourages people to gather and spend time together, building stronger bonds and memories. Studies have shown that the environment we live in can greatly affect our mood, emotions, and even our physical health.
From a neuroscience perspective, when we experience stress, our body releases cortisol, a hormone that can have negative effects on our health if it remains elevated over a prolonged period. By creating a Wild Homeand getting closer to nature, we can lower our cortisol levels, which can help us to feel more relaxed and centered.
Having a Wild Home can create a space where we feel safe and nurtured, which can help us to be more open to taking risks and exploring new experiences.

- Do you keep plants? Did you know that adding plants to your home can improve air quality and bring the outdoors inside, promoting a sense of calm and well-being?
- Do you make the most of natural light? Do you know you can use natural light (and timing) to help regulate circadian rhythms and promote better sleep?
- Do you use candles? Did you know that this ancient technology can add warmth and ambiance to your space and to incorporate refreshing or calming natural scent in the room?
- Are you familiar with the four elements – earth, air, fire, and water? Do you incorporate them in your home to create balance and harmony?
- Have you heard of Feng Shui? Have you ever used it to arrange your space to optimize energy flow and promote positive emotions?
- Do you consider the impact of clutter? Do you know that it can impact your mindset and clarity? Did you know that tidiness reduces mental stress?
- Do you use a variety of textures in your space? Did you know that things as simple as soft blankets and natural fibers add depth and interest to your space?
- Do you utilize earth minerals? Have you tried them to add visual interest and promote positive energy?
- Do you know about the Danish concept of Hygge? Have you utilized this idea to create a warm and inviting atmosphere?
- Have you ever grown any of your own food, or kept animals? Have you considered what the cycle of life offers to you and your family?
How to Practice
This practice is your opportunity to take the work out of the heart and mind and to bring it into a transformed physical reality in your home. Here you will begin to integrate reflections of who you are as a unique individual, your values system, and how you operate in relationship with ancient foundations harnessing light, space, direction, scent, comfort, and energy. SYCHRONIZE YOUR
Wild Work
Wild Work differs from doing your job in that it involves a deep connection to your personal values, mission, and purpose. When you are engaged in Wild Work, you feel a sense of alignment with your true self, and you view your work as an extension of who you are. Wild Work is not a means to an end or a paycheck; it is something that brings a sense of fulfillment, meaning, and true purpose to your life.
When a person engages in Wild Work, they often experience deeper connections with their colleagues and a greater sense of community within their workplace. This is because they are aligned with their values and mission, and they are more likely to attract others who share those same beliefs and aspirations.
Overall, Wild Work provides an opportunity to experience a more holistic sense of being, where a person’s work and personal life are intertwined and support each other. By focusing on their values and purpose, individuals can create a more authentic and fulfilling work experience that reflects their true self.

You will also begin the process of auditing your experience at work and to begin to determine what you’d like to shift in the next 30 days – 2 years with the way you show up at work, how you spend your time and energy, and how that affects the rest of your life. WELCOME TO
The Integration + Closing
You have reached the end of this work, which is also the very beginning.
The end of the Becoming a Wild Humans practice sets you on the road to being self-guided, under your own steam, trusting yourself and the things you have learned, and taking it into your real life.
It takes 66 days to really begin to form a steady habit and practice which is hard wired within the brain and feels “adopted” by the system. In addition, we are wired to push against change and to prefer the norm and the standard. With these two things in mind, offer yourself a great deal of patience as you practice, particularly if you have decided to complete the Becoming a Wild Human Self-Guided Course quickly. You’ll need time for real integration.
This section’s work pulls from all of the previous work and from your notes, helping you to form an integrated blueprint of the Wild Human you are and the Wild Journey you are choosing. Let this be your compass as you practice, and your reference for each day as you focus and begin and reflection each evening as you analyze how things went and how you’d like to shift just a little the following day.

- The next few months will ask you to create and maintain bold goals and enjoy the process of achieving them.
- This work is most effective if accompanied by deep and frequent self-reflection.

- Remember to connect in nature. This can be as simple as sitting near natural light coming through a window or purchasing an easy plant or it can be as complex as your readiness and environment provide for.

- Be sure to consider and incorporate all elements of what you have learned as you integrate.

ONE
Do you feel alone?
This is the State of One. In One you are supposed to be alone. This is the opening.
Shamanic work teaches us that we have to unite with ourselves in order to be in a state to help and support anyone else. You might recognize this as the feeling of unease which comes with new things, and which subsides as soon as you adjust to it, accept it, and find unity with it.
One, or “The Opening” invites you to step through that first doorway and to embrace the challenge of something unknown.

- The opening is solitary.
- One is a place of challenge where we meet monsters and angels.
- One should come before we ever try to extend our support to others.
- Being in One requires a reckoning with discomfort.

TWO
Do you feel like you must hide your dark side?
This is the State of Two. In Two you meet and explore both sides of yourself, dark and light.
This wisdom teaches us that we must see and respect the difference between who we know ourselves to be, and who we really are. You may feel anger rise or feel depressed and be someone who is full of joy and puts a lot of meaning in place for others.
Two invites us to recognize the polarity, and separately look at both perspectives, honoring each equally.
Key Perspectives:
- Your dark side has value and worth.
- Dismissing your darkness won’t enhance your light.
- You can learn to look at yourself objectively and with love for all parts.
- You can trust others to see and understand both sides if you are clear.

THREE
Are you called to find a new entity within yourself?
This is the State of Three. In Three, you take the learning from your connection with your shadow and light and create a whole new entity.
In many traditions, Three is the Trinity, a mediator who comes between our selves to moderate next steps in a big transition.
Three invites us to honor the midpoint, and to balance our thinking between body, mind, and spirit.
Key Perspectives:
- The creation of something new is essential.
- Finding balance between the different parts of you is vital.
- Within you, you have all of the voices you need, guiding you.
- When you are clear about these identities, others become clear about you.

FOUR
Are you craving consistency and stability?
This is the energy of Four. The master number. The Connection.
In fields of study from herbalism to human behavior, we see that Four is the master number, particularly in the natural world. Four directions, four kingdoms, four seasons, states of matter, and cycles of the moon. You might recognize this as feeling a craving for order.
Four invites us to melt into connection, to see it as easy, and to practice it in all ways with all things.
Key Perspectives:
- Every being wants to be seen, heard and valued.
- Connection begins by honoring those needs for ourselves.
- Connection deepens when we acknowledge those needs in others.
- Connection complexifies when we take it into the natural world and explore.
- Continue to record your notes.
FIVE
Are you ready to feel a true and final sense of freedom?
This is the energy of Five. Freedom.
In many practices, five is the “essence of life”, the “ether” the “quintessence”, the “something extra”. You might recognize this as the desire to deeply learn and understand something you are passionate about.
Five invites us to feel lucky to be healthy and alive, while also offering us access to magic.
Key Perspectives:
- Tomorrow isn’t promised, but the moment you are living in is.
- Deepening outside of the material world isn’t “extra” it’s the most basic skill.
- We need a sense of mystery in place of a feeling of fear.
- Five joins the physical experience with the spirit to find light and life.

SIX
Are you tired of chasing perfection?
This is the energy of Six. Equilibrium.
In ancient wisdom, we learn that the Equilibrium is the point where we accept that we are essentially perfect as we are, we have all that we need inside of us, and it can be drawn out by guides and teachers.
Six invites us to constantly return to ourselves for the answers, and to speak in terms of the abundance we want, as what we speak becomes truth.
Key Perspectives:
- Clearly ask for what you desire and need and assume it is coming to you.
- Be careful about speaking in scarcity, as by doing so you are giving it energy.
- Perfection can be seen all around us in nature and in ancient structures.
- In the state of equilibrium it’s easier to connect with the sacred.
- Continue to record your notes.
SEVEN
Have you lost your sense of creativity? Find it again in Seven. The Mystical.
For generations, things that were “mystical” or “alchemical” were considered dangerous. We now know they were most often formed after patterns found in plants and nature. Nature is our divine mystical teacher. You might recognize this as the curiosity you had when you were a child.
Seven invites you to release what is structured and defined in favor of what is mysterious and divined.
Key Perspectives:
- In spite of its intangibility, Seven represents perfect order.
- When you release yourself from fear of the unknown you often find the familiar.
- Your life can be different: it’s time to step out of what is known and choose.
- Curiosity naturally leads to mysticism.
- Continue to record your notes.
EIGHT
Have you lost your sense of sovereignty?
Welcome to Eight. The Infinite.
On the journey through indigenous wisdom we always return to ourselves, come home, come back to or renew our courage and confidence. You might recognize this as the feeling you get when you set boundaries for yourself and ask for respect and those things are offered, honored and celebrated.
Eight invites you to take your power back, use your voice, and understand that you are the person you have been waiting for.
Key Perspectives:
- Eight gives us innate power to connect to what is bigger than us.
- Eight allows us to honor our own perspective and turn thoughts into reality.
- Eight is the generation of transformation.
- Eight is assertion, action, confidence, magnetism and justice.
- Continue to record your notes.
NINE
Do you long for completion? For certain things to have a beginning and an end?
This is the energy of Nine. The Synthesis.
In the ancient world, this energy invites us to step back to “the beginning” but with new eyes, new thoughts, new layers, new conditions. You may experience this as a feeling of peace when things come together, when people get along, when systems work, and when your steady state is calm.
Nine invites us to summarize, connect, wrap-up, and integrate. This is a gathering place for thoughts and changes before you go back through the cycle again or move to integrating it as a habit in your life.
Key Perspectives:
- Nine is a point of synthesis but only the beginning of a change.
- We are called to explore how this is greater than us.
- Nine is the reflection point of your journey, your work.
- This is the moment you anchor yourself regarding what you’d like to change.
- Continue to record your notes.
CONCLUSION
We are always moving in a circle. You have successfully completed the circle of The Nine Elements, and you are ready to integrate your learning into your life. We encourage you to revisit audio lessons as you feel inspired, and to move to the integration PDFs as you feel called and ready.
